The Code of Ethics of the IEICE and the IPSJ are being revised at approximately the same time. The Code of Ethics is a document that is expected to support ethical behavior and ethical decision-making by members and professionals of societies and associations. Furthermore, the two societies are currently collaborating on a collection of ethical case studies to better understand the spirit of the two societies' codes of ethics and to support decision-making in specific situations. This symposium aims to deepen understanding of the revised Code of Ethics of the two societies and to reflect diverse opinions in the production of the ethics casebook currently being jointly produced through discussion to improve it.

The symposium will consist of two parts: lectures and panel discussions. In the lectures, we will report on the revision of the Code of Ethics of the two societies and the joint production of an ethics casebook, and introduce two case studies that will be published in the casebook currently under production. Based on these lectures, the panel discussion will discuss what the dialogue on technology and ethics should be like between colleagues from the same society or association, between the same professionals, or between professionals and society at large, and what role the Code of Ethics casebooks should play in this dialogue, Furthermore, a discussion will take place between the speakers and the floor on what the audience expects from the casebooks to make them even better.
