The Go Data Science - Hackathon (Gods 4.0) is a hybrid event organized by the CIS Chapter in collaboration with the IEEE ENSI Student Branch. This exciting event provided both online and in-person experiences, aiming to foster knowledge sharing and skill enhancement in the field of data science. The fourth edition of this event featured a series of workshops led by renowned experts, followed by a 12-hour hackathon, where participants engaged in solving real-world challenges in healthcare. The workshops were conducted online via Microsoft Teams, while the competition took place on the Zindi platform and in-person at UIK: Université Ibn Khaldoun

Pre-Hackathon Bootcamp

To prepare participants for the hackathon, a Bootcamp was organized prior to the competition. It included three workshops designed for beginners to help them develop foundational skills in data science:

  1. Introduction to Computer Vision

  2. Introduction to Deep Learning with PyTorch

  3. Introduction to Natural Language Processing (NLP)

Workshops on Hackathon Day

On the day of the hackathon, participants had the opportunity to attend four technical workshops, delivered both online and in-person:

Online Workshops:

  1. Leveraging Computer Vision: Exploring Classification, Detection, and Segmentation Tasks

    • Speaker: Slim Bechikh

    • Time: 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM

  2. LLMs4Code – Generative AI for Software Engineering

    • Speaker: Besma Guesmi

    • Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 AM

In-Person Workshops (UIK - La Soukra):

  1. NVIDIA Certified Workshop: Fundamentals of Deep Learning

    • Speaker: Dr. Anis Hasnaoui

    • Time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  2. Introduction to Large Language Models (LLMs)

    • Speaker: Amel Sellami

    • Time: 4:15 PM - 6:15 PM

The Hackathon

The hackathon officially started at 7:00 PM and lasted 12 hours. Participants had the flexibility to compete online on the Zindi platform and join in-person at UIK to experience the hackathon atmosphere. The theme of the competition was Healthcare, challenging participants to develop innovative AI-based solutions for real-world problems in the field.

Competition Format and Judging

The competition was structured as follows:

  • Leaderboard Selection: The top five teams on the Zindi leaderboard were invited to pitch their solutions before a jury.

  • Pitching Session: Each team had 5 minutes to present their solution, followed by a Q&A session with the jury.

  • Final Evaluation: The jury selected the top three winners based on innovation, technical implementation, and impact.

Winners & Prizes:

  1. Catharis: 1300 TND

  2. Recursive Duo: 1000 TND

  3. Mohamed Khlifi: 700 TND

Conclusion

The Gods 4.0 Hackathon successfully brought together a vibrant community of data science enthusiasts, industry experts, and students, creating a platform for knowledge exchange and innovation. Through high-quality workshops and an engaging competition, participants enhanced their skills, networked with professionals, and gained hands-on experience in solving real-world problems.
