Workshop for Teachers on TRYEngineering and STEM Project Proposal Submission to IEEE
A workshop was conducted for the teachers of the Good Samaritan School, Jsola, New Delhi-110025, to introduce them to the TRYEngineering initiative and explore the possibility of preparing a STEM project proposal for submission to IEEE. The workshop aimed to encourage teachers to engage in innovative educational practices and collaborate with students on exciting STEM projects.
The session commenced with an opening address by Dr. Ananthi Jebasingh, FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR OF THE GOOD SAMARITAN SCHOOLS, who highlighted the importance of fostering innovation and technical skills in students. The Principal emphasized the significance of collaborating with global platforms like IEEE to enhance the school’s educational offerings and provide students with real-world, hands-on learning experiences.
Prof. A Q Ansari, the keynote speaker, then introduced the TRYEngineering program. He explained that IEEE's TRYEngineering initiative is designed to inspire and engage students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Through this program, teachers and students have the opportunity to submit project proposals that align with engineering education and innovation. Prof. Ansari detailed the process for submitting STEM project proposals, which would allow participants to create solutions to real-world problems while showcasing their skills in engineering and technology.
Prof. Ansari also explained the objectives and benefits of participating in such a program, stressing the importance of creating projects that are both educational and impactful. He encouraged teachers to collaborate with students in developing ideas and proposals that would not only fulfill the criteria of the program but also promote creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
The teachers actively participated in the discussion, asking insightful questions and showing a keen interest in how they could prepare STEM proposals for both students and themselves. It was agreed that the preparation of the STEM project proposals would be a collaborative effort, with teachers playing an active role in guiding students throughout the process.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by the Principal for facilitating the event, and to Prof. Ansari for his informative session. The teachers expressed their enthusiasm for exploring the potential of the TRYEngineering program and were motivated to start working on STEM project proposals for submission to IEEE.
Overall, the workshop was a success, providing teachers with valuable insights into the TRYEngineering initiative and inspiring them to engage in meaningful STEM projects with their students.

Importance of fostering innovation and technical skills in students
Ms. Ananthi Jebasingh, the Principal, emphasized the significance of collaborating with global platforms like IEEE to enhance the school’s educational offerings and provide students with real-world, hands-on learning experiences.
Biography:
In 1989, Dr. Ananthi Jebasingh was a homemaker and college professor with a Doctorate in Linguistics in northern India. Like all Indians, she saw poverty in the streets every day of her life. One fateful day, God decided to use her to change hearts of children in a slum of 25,000 people across from her apartment. After teaching more than 100 children from her home, Ananthi received permission to establish a school within the “toilet complex” of the Alakananda slum in 1991. By 1998, she was teaching more than 600 children of all ages within the slum community with the help of 18 volunteer teachers. With a passion for these children, Ananthi manages a staff of over 150 in New Delhi, India. The children and families of the communities call her “Mummy-ji” which means “honored mother” in Hindi.
