Cherry Autonomous Racecar - 1/10th scale Nvidia Jetson TX1 based RC car

Daniel Tobias, a recent B.S Comp Eng graduate from NCA&T will present about his senior design project "Cherry Autonomous Racecar - 1/10th scale Nvidia Jetson TX1 based RC car."

The Cherry Autonomous Racecar (CAR) was a senior design project created this past year at NC A&T. The goal of the project was to create a low cost robotics platform that could be used to teach, design and validate different approaches to autonomous driving, while implementing similar sensors used in the industry.

Talk breakdown: The presentation will be a categorized in three parts.

The first will be related to the sensor suite that the project is using along with an summary of what each sensor is able to do.  The main idea is to talk about the performance of each sensor and the hardships that were faced implementing each sensor so that others could avoid making the same mistakes. Then talk about the trade-offs of similar sensors.

The second part will talk about the software, specifically the ROS network and the Tensorflow implementation of End to End learning for Self-Driving Cars that is being used to drive the CAR autonomously around the hallways of A&T.

The last part will be about similar projects from other universities, and support surrounding the Jetson board.

This will be followed by a 5-10 mins Q&A.
