Python Image Processing Sessions
The two-day Python Image Processing sessions, organized under the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS), were designed to give students a hands-on learning experience with real-world applications of image processing using Python.
On the first day, we started with the basics, introducing students to essential libraries like OpenCV and PIL. They explored fundamental techniques such as image manipulation, filtering, and edge detection, building a strong foundation in image processing.
Day two was all about putting that knowledge into action. Students took on an exciting challenge—building their own Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system. With techniques like image preprocessing, contour detection, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR), they successfully created a working prototype.
By the end of the sessions, participants didn’t just learn the theory—they walked away with practical skills and a real-world project they could be proud of!
