Joint Central Area, Northwest Area, and Southern Area

IEEE Region 6 Spring Joint Central Area, Northwest Area, and Southern Area Meeting is planned for Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 4:45 PM at Santa Clara University.

Location: Sobrato Campus for Discovery and Innovation room SCDI 3115/3116

Qualified volunteers will be reimbursed using the Concur platform. For general guidance on expenses, refer to the IEEE Expense Reimbursement Guidelines for Volunteers.

This event will be hybrid, if you cannot attend in-person you may join virtually.

Sections:

Section Chairs are invited to this event. This event provides an opportunity to share best practices and network with Sections in the three Areas involved. Please make every effort to attend this meeting, however, if you are not available then please designate a delegate to represent you in-person at the meeting.  Please register at your earliest convenience.

Since this event is in the San Francisco Bay Area, the three Sections of the San Francisco Bay Area Council (SFBAC) namely Santa Clara Valley (SCV), Oakland East Bay (OEB), and San Francisco (SF) Sections may consider sending several officers including Chapter officers to this event as there are no travel reimbursement would be needed for members in the SFBAC.

Student Branches:

Student Branch Chairs are invited to this meeting, for opportunities to learn more about IEEE, connect with IEEE Region 6 leaders and volunteer peers, share a brief status update on your Student Branch, and participate in the Student Design Showcase competition (see description below).

IEEE Region 6 will cover the expenses for 1 student representative per Student Branch, preferably the Chair.

  • This includes travel cost and 1 night hotel.
  • If the Chair is unavailable, another representative may be appointed or selected to represent the student branch.
  • If students share a hotel room and commute together, more students may be acceptable, as long as the financial cost is equivalent or the same.
  • There are no travel grants available for the sole purpose of participating in the student competition. Student Branch Representatives are expected to attend the entirety of the meeting for volunteer leadership training. The student competition is an opportunity for the representatives to engage and continue their professional growth. Participation in the student competition is not mandatory, but highly encouraged.

Student Design Showcase Competition:

There is an in-person Student Design Showcase Competition where students will showcase their projects with a poster (preferably), live demo, or other digital device. Cash prizes will be available: 1st, 2nd, 3rd ($300/$200/$100), Best Technical ($100), Best Professional ($100), and People Choice Award ($100). Register your entry in the morning of the event at the registration table.
