“ SPAx Ignite Young Minds”
Introduction
The “ SPAx Ignite Young Minds ” was organized by the BEC-IEEE Communication Society
(SBC35261F) at Government Higher Primary School No.15, Bagalkot. The workshop aimed
to introduce school students to the fascinating world of electronics through simple, interactive
sessions. Funded by IEEE SPAx, this outreach initiative reflected IEEE's commitment to
spreading technical awareness and igniting curiosity among young minds.
Objective
To introduce basic electronics concepts to school students in an engaging manner.
To provide hands-on experience with simple electronic components and circuits.
To promote STEM education and encourage students to explore technology.
To contribute to community development through educational outreach.
Brief Description
The session began with a warm welcome and an overview of the workshop’s objectives.
Volunteers from BEC-IEEE ComSoc conducted the session with great enthusiasm.
Key highlights included:
Introduction to basic electronic components like resistors, LEDs, and batteries.
Demonstrations of simple circuits such as lighting an LED and making a buzzer sound.
Introduction to Arduino and ESP platforms, where students learned about
microcontrollers and saw practical applications of programming and hardware
integration.
Hands-on interaction where students could assemble circuits on breadboards.
A special address was delivered by Dr. Jayashree D. Mallapur, Head of the Department of
Electronics and Communication Engineering and Faculty Advisor, BEC-IEEE ComSoc SBC .
Her insightful talk captivated the students, sparking their curiosity in the field of electronics and
motivating them to explore the endless possibilities that technology offers.
The event was funded by IEEE SPAx (Student Professional Activities), enabling resource
procurement and smooth execution.
Conclusion
The workshop was a resounding success, sparking interest in electronics among young students.
It not only served as a valuable learning experience but also inspired many to consider careers
in science and engineering. The initiative was appreciated by both students and school staff, and
the support from SPAx played a vital role in bringing the vision to life.
