First Robotics World Competition - IEEE Atlanta, Midtown HS
First Robotics World Competition. Brian Page represented IEEE at this event. There were 39 students and 14 parents plus 7 mentors who attended this event. There were over 50,000 people at this event and numerous interactions throughout the competition. The Important issues to recognize are as follows.
- Quality Mentorship is of value with support financially, parents, boosters and motivation of the students.
- It takes time to develop a program. Midtown HS went from nearly last in the state of Ga to qualifying for the world robotics competition in 8th place. This is over a period of 3 years.
- There is a good mix of students including minorities and girls that are engaged in STEM activities.
The Midtown HS team made it to the Playoffs at the world competition and finished in the top 10% in the world.
