TELECOM 2025 – Innovating to Connect: 6G, AI, and Cloud as Drivers of the Digital Future
The 2025 TELECOM event began with a warm welcome from the IEEE ComSoc Ecuador Chapter and the Universidad de Las Américas (UDLA) Student Branch, who highlighted the significance of celebrating the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. The opening remarks introduced the event’s goals: to explore the future of digital transformation powered by 6G, artificial intelligence, and cloud technologies.
The first keynote was delivered by Dr. David López-Pérez from the Universitat Politècnica de València, who presented an insightful overview of 6G fundamentals and the critical role of upper mid-band spectrum. This was followed by Álvaro Benítez, who addressed personal data protection and privacy engineering in the B2B sector, emphasizing legal and ethical challenges in the corporate world.
Viviana Estrella from Banco Pichincha continued the morning session with a presentation on how cloud computing and DevOps are enabling the digital transformation of businesses in Ecuador. Juan Andrés Obregón from Telefónica-Movistar then discussed the evolution of the mobile core network and how it is adapting to emerging technologies like AI and 6G.
To close the conference lineup, Richard Osorio from CNT EP highlighted the company’s strategic initiatives in creating intelligent digital ecosystems to serve the public sector and enhance national connectivity.
The event concluded with a networking session, where attendees exchanged ideas and reflected on the key technological trends shaping the future of telecommunications.
After the conference sessions, a ceremony for emblematic project presentations was held, where different IEEE chapters showcased their ongoing technical and social-impact work. As representatives of the IEEE ComSoc Student Branch Chapter from Escuela Politécnica Nacional, we actively participated by exhibiting our chapter’s flagship projects. This allowed us to exchange ideas with attendees and share our initiatives with the national IEEE community. Our participation was recognized during the event, and we proudly received a certificate of appreciation, as seen in the images.
