Empowering Young Minds: Engineering & Robotics Outreach at Rukhsana Foundation
Overview:
IEEE WIE in collaboration with IET On Campus ITU conducted a heartwarming and impactful outreach session at the Rukhsana Foundation. Aimed at students of Grades 4 and 5, the event focused on introducing young minds to the world of engineering and robotics in a fun, hands-on, and interactive way.
Program Flow:
Welcome & Introduction:
The session began with a short, engaging introduction to engineering and robotics, helping students relate these concepts to real-life applications.
Line-Following Robot Activity:
Students were divided into five groups. Each group, guided by WIE and IET members, successfully assembled and tested a line-following robot using custom-prepared robotics kits. This activity fostered teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking.
Robotics Quiz Session:
A short quiz based on the concepts learned during the session added a fun and competitive element. Tokens of appreciation and certificates were awarded to participants.
Participation:
Participants: 35 students from Grades 4–5
Volunteers: 25 dedicated members from WIE and IET societies
Conclusion:
The day concluded with reflections, group photos, light refreshments, and lots of smiles from both the volunteers and students. The event left a lasting impact by making robotics approachable and fun for children who rarely get hands-on experience with such technologies. Students expressed excitement and curiosity, a true testament to the success of the outreach initiative.
