This September 19, the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group and the IEEE UTN Student Branch invite young women from Colegio Universitario UTN to live an inspiring and interactive journey into the world of STEAM and ICT at the Universidad Técnica del Norte.

To celebrate International Girls in ICT Day, the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group at Universidad Técnica del Norte (UTN), together with the IEEE UTN Student Branch and its technical chapters (EMBS, CS, ComSoc, RAS, PES, GRSS, and SIGHT), will host the "Niñas en las TIC´S" on Fryday, September 19, 2025.

This inspiring academic and interactive event is designed for second-year high school students from Colegio Universitario UTN. It aims to spark interest in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) disciplines and promote gender equity in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

The event will begin with an opening ceremony featuring authorities from UTN and WIE. Presentations will highlight the available academic programs in the Faculties of Applied Sciences and Agro-Environmental Sciences.

Participants will then tour six specialized laboratories (Telecommunications, Mechatronics, Biotechnology, Electricity, Software, and Automotive Engineering), where they will engage in hands-on learning and a STEM-based scavenger hunt. Teams that solve the final riddle will receive recognition and awards.

By providing early exposure and direct interaction with real-world applications of STEAM fields, the event hopes to inspire young girls to consider futures in tech-driven careers.
