CS Team Meet 15
The IEEE Computer Society (CS) Student Branch Chapter at Anurag University, under the guidance of Mrs. M. Sandhya Rani (Faculty Advisor) and the leadership of Varsha Ponugoti (Chair), organized an offline meeting on 20th August 2025 to plan the upcoming technical workshop “HackEthics – Hack to Protect, Not to Exploit”.
The objective of the meeting was to discuss the structure, execution, and promotion of HackEthics, a cybersecurity workshop aimed at equipping students with knowledge of ethical hacking practices, hands-on training in vulnerability assessment, and strategies to safeguard systems against evolving cyber threats.
Key Points Discussed During the Meeting:
Workshop Format and Structure:
- Finalizing the structure of the session, including an expert talk followed by hands-on practical training.
- Covering core cybersecurity topics such as ethical hacking principles, common vulnerabilities, penetration testing, and defense strategies.
- Ensuring a balance between theory and practice to make the workshop interactive and impactful.
Content Preparation and Standards:
- Deciding on key practical demonstrations such as SQL Injection, Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), Command Injection, and automated testing tools (Burp Suite, SQLmap).
- Highlighting defense mechanisms including input validation, firewalls, and security headers.
- Preparing case studies and real-world examples to connect theoretical learning with practical application.
Participation and Registration:
- Setting eligibility criteria and registration deadlines.
- Planning for a participation cap to ensure effective mentor-student interaction.
- Deciding on certificates of participation to encourage student engagement.
Team Roles and Logistics:
- Delegating responsibilities for coordination, technical setup, timekeeping, and participant support.
- Arranging the venue setup (G-Block Seminar Hall), along with technical infrastructure such as laptops, projectors, and internet connectivity.
- Ensuring proper setup for live demonstrations of tools and cybersecurity practices.
Promotion and Outreach:
- Designing posters, digital banners, and creatives highlighting the theme “Hack to Protect, Not to Exploit”.
- Planning social media campaigns and internal circulars to reach a wide student audience.
- Engaging class representatives to spread word-of-mouth promotion.

The meeting concluded with all members aligned on the agenda, structure, and responsibilities for the workshop.
