Join us for IEEE Day 2025 at Memorial University! This year's theme, "Ocean, Arctic & Remote-Tech", highlights the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in tackling real-world challenges. Let's celebrate and explore new ideas, connect across fields, and shape solutions for our region, and who knows, maybe spark ideas for your own research, too

This event is free to attend, but registration is required.  RSVP Now

IEEE Day is a celebration of innovation, collaboration, and the power of technology to shape a better future. This year, our focus is on the theme "Ocean, Arctic, and Remote-Tech", areas of profound importance for our region and the world. Our goal is to bring together undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and professionals across disciplines to explore challenges and opportunities in these domains. From climate change and sustainable oceans to connectivity in remote regions, these are global issues that demand multidisciplinary collaboration and creative thinking.

The event will begin with an Inspiration Session, with contributions expected from Civil, Electrical and Computer, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, and Computer Science, as well as other related fields.

Speakers will share their perspectives in 10–15 minute talks, ranging from ongoing research and open issues to useful tools, datasets, and examples that can spark new ideas. The goal is to encourage students to look across disciplines, connect the dots, and imagine creative ways to tackle real problems that matter for our region and beyond.

In short, the Inspiration Session will:

  • Highlight key challenges and open questions in ocean, Arctic, and remote technologies.
  • Share research directions, tools, and datasets to spark curiosity.
  • Encourage grad and undergrad students to think across disciplines to find creative solutions.

This event is free to attend, but registration is required.  RSVP Now

Looking Ahead

After the Inspiration Session, students will have the chance to develop their ideas further and later showcase projects inspired by the talks. More details about this follow-up activity will be shared soon.
