IEEE DAY - BMSCE IEEE SB - Day 5 - Xtreme 101: A 10-Day Bootcamp to Think, Solve and Code like an Engineer
BMSCE IEEE SB on account of IEEE Day conducted Xtreme 101: A 10-Day Bootcamp to Think, Solve and Code like an Engineer as a prelude of IEEEXtreme 19.0. Day 5 of the Xtreme 101: A 10-Day Bootcamp to Think, Solve, and Code like an Engineer, featured a one-hour quiz hosted on the HackerRank platform. The quiz consisted of three beginner-friendly coding questions worth a total of 100 points, distributed as 20, 30, 50 points respectively , designed to assess participants’ grasp of concepts discussed in the previous sessions. These sessions covered topics such as the foundations of competitive programming, time and space complexity, and essential data structures including arrays, stacks, queues, and linked lists.
The online format allowed participants to experience a real-time problem-solving environment, similar to that of global coding contests. Queries were facilitated through Discord, ensuring supportive experience for all participants. The quiz encouraged students to apply the theoretical knowledge gained during earlier sessions in a hands-on, time-bound scenario.
Outcomes: The quiz session effectively reinforced participants’ conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills while familiarizing them with the competitive coding atmosphere of IEEEXtreme. It fostered logical thinking, time management, and coding efficiency under pressure. The event also helped students identify their strengths and areas for improvement, motivating them to continue consistent practice ahead of the main competition. Overall, the session served as an engaging and practical step in preparing participants for the challenges of global-level coding contests.
