Introduction

As part of the IEEE Day 2025 celebrations, IEEE SIGHT AG GCEK, in collaboration with the Little Kites club of GHSS Kottila, organized Robonest – Nurturing the Future of Robotics on October 6, 2025.

This STEM outreach program aimed to spark curiosity and creativity among high school students by introducing them to the fascinating world of robotics through interactive sessions and hands-on learning. Around 30 enthusiastic members of the Little Kites club actively participated, making the event both lively and impactful.

Highlights of the Session

  • Students were introduced to the fundamentals of robotics and its real-world applications.

  • The core activity involved building a Line Follower Robot, where participants learned about sensors, circuits, and control logic.

  • IEEE mentors guided students through step-by-step demonstrations, encouraging experimentation and independent troubleshooting.

  • The session promoted teamwork and collaboration, as students worked in small groups to bring their robots to life.

  • The interactive approach ensured that students remained engaged and motivated throughout the session.

Outcomes

Robonest, conducted as part of IEEE Day 2025, proved to be a highly inspiring and educational experience for the participants. Instead of merely learning theoretical concepts, students gained practical understanding by designing, assembling, and testing their own robots.

Through this activity, they discovered how sensors, circuits, and programming integrate to enable robotic motion and automation. The hands-on nature of the session fostered critical thinking and creativity, while teamwork encouraged communication and problem-solving skills.

The moment their robots successfully traced the line was filled with excitement and pride — a clear reflection of their accomplishment. The experience not only strengthened their technical foundation but also motivated them to explore the fields of robotics, electronics, and STEM more deeply.

Impressions

The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both students and teachers. Participants expressed immense joy in watching their creations come to life and showed great interest in learning more about advanced robotics in the future.

Teachers appreciated the initiative for giving students practical exposure beyond classroom learning. They also commended the IEEE SIGHT AG GCEK team for the engaging teaching style, interactive demonstrations, and student-centered approach that made the workshop a success.

Overall, Robonest stood out as a memorable highlight of IEEE Day 2025, successfully nurturing young minds and inspiring the next generation of innovators and engineers.
