IEEE SIGHT Day Congress 4.0 brought together over 340 students, young professionals, researchers, and industry experts on April 18–19, 2026 , at Hotel Le Royal, Hammamet, Tunisia, united around a shared commitment to humanitarian engineering, inclusive education, and healthcare technologies.
Hosted by the IEEE ESPRIT Student Branch and IEEE ESPRIT SIGHT Group , in collaboration with the IEEE SIGHT Tunisia Section , SDC 4.0 marked the fourth edition of this flagship IEEE event dedicated to leveraging technology for social good.
This edition explored how technology can move beyond medical diagnosis to address learning accessibility, spotlighting innovations at the intersection of medical engineering, assistive technologies, artificial intelligence, and inclusive education .

The congress featured a rich two-day program:
- A Distinguished Lecturer session by Mr. Kostas Karpouzis (IEEE Education Society) on "Gamification and Serious Games as Pedagogical Strategies in AI-Enhanced Education"
- Technical workshops covering AI, software architecture, and accessible learning
- YP Mentoring Roundtables , with 15 in-person and 2 virtual tables connecting ~138 participants with mentors from academia and industry
- Code2Cure 3.0 Technical Challenge , where teams developed and pitched innovative tech solutions
- A Non-Technical Challenge in which IEEE SIGHT Groups across Tunisia showcased their year-long humanitarian impact initiatives
- A Humanitarian Panel Discussion on "Smart Systems for Sustainable Communities" , held in collaboration with IEEE CEDA Tunisia Section and SIGHT Global
- A Night Ceremony featuring a keynote, awards, and a talent show

The congress concluded with the announcement of IEEE ENIT SIGHT Group as the host of SDC 5.0 , passing the torch to the next chapter of the congress.

Impact
SDC 4.0 reinforced the role of IEEE SIGHT as a catalyst for community-driven innovation by promoting:
- Cross-disciplinary collaboration between students, researchers, and professionals
- Practical exposure to humanitarian technology and inclusive engineering
- A competitive platform that elevated Tunisia's IEEE SIGHT community on a regional scale
