Free Blood Donation Program, Medical Camp & Blood Grouping Drive!
The IEEE ULAB Student Branch, in collaboration with the ULAB Social Welfare Club (USWC) and Rhythm Blood Centre, organized a comprehensive health and humanitarian drive. Held on November 24th, the event featured a voluntary blood donation program, a free medical camp, and a blood grouping drive to promote community health and provide life-saving resources to local patients
The "Blood Grouping, Voluntary Blood Donation, and Free Medical Campaign" was a multi-day initiative designed to foster a spirit of selflessness and social responsibility within the university community.
The campaign was executed in two distinct phases:
-
Pre-Event Registration (Day 1–3): For three days leading up to the main event, physical booths and online registration forms were managed by student volunteers. This phase focused on raising awareness about the importance of blood donation and screening potential donors. By the end of the registration period, over 50+ donors had committed to the cause.
-
The Main Event (November 24th): On the day of the drive, the ULAB campus was transformed into a medical hub. Supported by the Rhythm Blood Centre and the ULAB Student Affairs Office, professional medical teams conducted:
-
Safe Blood Collection: Collecting vital units of blood for local hospitals.
-
Blood Grouping: Providing students and staff with accurate information about their blood types.
-
Free Medical Consultations: Offering basic health check-ups and medical advice to the community.
-
Impact and Achievement
The event successfully bridge the gap between young volunteers and medical professionals. By securing a significant number of blood units, the initiative directly contributed to local healthcare supplies. Furthermore, it empowered students to take an active role in social welfare, reinforcing the IEEE mission of "Advancing Technology for Humanity" through direct community service.
