The HW Carnival is a prestigious national event hosted by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (Library of Alexandria) in collaboration with IEEE SSCS AUSC (IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Alexandria University Student Branch). This event represents a significant initiative to promote electronics, hardware design, and integrated circuit (IC) development across Egypt, bringing together students, academics, and industry professionals in a collaborative learning environment.

Event Overview and Structure

The HW Carnival took place on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center (BACC) in the Delegates Hall and West Exhibition Hall. The event is designed as a comprehensive showcase and competition platform that combines educational sessions, hands-on workshops, and competitive challenges to inspire and nurture the next generation of electronics engineers in Egypt.

The event features several key components that work together to create a dynamic learning and competition environment. Technical sessions and discussions form the core of the programming, featuring inspiring talks and knowledge-sharing opportunities with experts from academia and industry. These sessions provide participants with cutting-edge insights into solid-state circuit design, hardware innovation, and emerging technologies in the electronics field.

Si-Clash: Egypt's Biggest Solid-State Design Competition

One of the most prestigious elements of the HW Carnival is the Si-Clash Finals, which represents Egypt's biggest solid-state design competition. Si-Clash is a national IC design and hardware challenge that has gained significant traction among engineering students and professionals across the country.

The Si-Clash competition operates under two distinct tracks, providing multiple pathways for participants to engage and compete. The Hackathon Track challenges participants to solve real-world design problems within a specified timeframe, competing in the HW Carnival Finals in Alexandria for prizes and recognition. This track emphasizes practical problem-solving, rapid prototyping, and innovative hardware solutions.

Si-Clash 2025 represents Version 1 of the competition and has expanded its reach through strategic partnerships with educational communities across Egypt. The competition has established collaborations with institutions like Bibliotheca Alexandria, ITIDA, OrionX. Through such partnerships, Si-Clash has dramatically expanded opportunities for students nationwide to participate in real engineering challenges with expert mentorship.

AlexDuino Fair: Showcasing Pre-University Innovation

Another significant feature of the HW Carnival is the AlexDuino Fair, a dedicated exhibition space that showcases innovative hardware and electronics projects developed by pre-university students. This component emphasizes the importance of introducing young students to electronics and hardware design at an early stage of their educational journey, fostering interest in STEM fields and engineering careers.

The AlexDuino Fair creates an open platform where younger students can display their creativity and technical skills, gaining exposure to industry professionals and university-level engineers. This initiative helps identify emerging talent and encourages early-stage innovation in the electronics education pipeline.
