SmartEcoSign 2025
SmartEcoSign 2025 was a national-level hackathon that brought together young innovators to design,innovate, and sustain with technology that is both impactful and eco-conscious. Organized by the Department of Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design & Technology) in association with the IEEEBIT Student Branch, the hackathon carried the theme “Smart Everything: Tech for Next-GenApplications” and encouraged participants to build solutions that merged sustainability with intelligent design. The event featured four tracks:
1. Electronics in Next-Gen Applications
2. Code and Circuit – The Co-Design Challenge
3. Green Silicon – Sustainable Tech by Design
4. GreenStack – Smart Software for Sustainable Impact.
Registration and Submissions
The call for registrations drew a large response from colleges across the country. The final date for registration was July 19th, 2025. Following this, participants submitted their initial concepts in stages.The first draft submission was due on July 26th, which was followed by a second draft submission on August 11th. The final idea submission took place on August 15th. Each stage helped teams refine their projects, moving from problem statements and proposed solutions to prototypes that could be demonstrated in the finale.
Participation
SmartEcoSign 2025 began with over 42 teams that is close to 200 registered participants. Through the multi-stage submission process, this number was filtered down, and 32 teams comprising about 12students were shortlisted for the final showcase. These students represented institutions from across
India, with many travelling long distances to take part in this national-level competition. Their diverse perspectives and innovative ideas reflected the spirit of collaboration and creativity that the hackathon sought to promote.
Timeline of the Finale
The grand finale was held on August 22nd, 2025, at the Dr. Ramegowda Seminar Hall, Bangalore Institute of Technology. The event commenced at 10:30 a.m. with an inauguration ceremony. The Guests of Honor – Mr. A, Chairman; Mr. B, Principal; Dr. C, Dean of Academics; Dr. D, Head of VLSI and ECE; and Dr. Jalaja S, IEEE Student Branch Coordinator – inaugurated the event with the lighting of the lamp. This was followed by a devotional song sung, which created an auspicious atmosphere. The dignitaries then addressed the gathering, motivating participants with their inspiring words.
Outcome and Results
The finale witnessed the presentation of a variety of ideas that ranged from IoT-enabled agriculture solutions and driver drowsiness detection systems to eco-friendly cybersecurity tools and solar-powered devices. After two rounds of intense competition, the winners of SmartEcoSign 2025 were announced as follows:
1. First Prize ( ₹13,000/-) to team Vigil AI (DSCE)
2. Second Prize (₹10,000/-) to team Databaes (BMSIT)
3. Third Prize (₹7,000/-) to team Tryanuka (BIT)
