Industry 5.0 – A New Paradigm or Just Industry 4.0 with a New Coat?
Industry 5.0 represents a transition from Industry 4.0 automation to human-centric collaboration, where artificial intelligence, robotics, and human creativity build synergy. This lecture analyzes whether this is a revolutionary paradigm or just an evolution of the previous era, comparing key pillars: personalized production, sustainability, and supply chain resilience. Industry 4.0 emphasizes connectivity and data, but Industry 5.0 integrates the ethical aspects of artificial intelligence, robotics, and bio-inspired systems for higher added value. Examples such as collaborative robots in the automotive industry demonstrate a significant increase in efficiency while preserving jobs for humans. The aim of this lecture is therefore to work towards answering the question of whether Industry 5.0 fundamentally addresses the limitations of Industry 4.0 or only partially shifts them with the same tools.
