Augmenting Human Intelligence with AI & Robotics in Industry 5.0
ABOUT THE EVENT:
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), G. Pullaiah College of Engineering and Technology (Autonomous), successfully organized an expert lecture titled “Augmenting Human Intelligence with AI & Robotics in Industry 5.0” as part of academic and research enrichment activities. The session was conducted with the objective of providing participants with a deeper understanding of how artificial intelligence and robotics are transforming industrial systems by enhancing human intelligence rather than replacing it.The lecture was delivered by Dr. Rajesh Kaluri, Professor at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, a distinguished academician with 20 years of experience in artificial intelligence, robotics, and intelligent systems. Dr. Kaluri elaborated on the evolution of industrial revolutions from Industry 1.0 to Industry 5.0, emphasizing the shift toward human-centric, ethical, and collaborative intelligent systems.During the session, the resource person discussed the role of AI and robotics in augmenting human capabilities through decision-support systems, collaborative robots, emotional intelligence, and agent-based AI frameworks. He highlighted how advanced AI techniques such as deep learning, neural networks, and multimodal communication enable natural interaction between humans and machines. Practical examples from academia and industry were presented to illustrate the real-world impact of human–robot collaboration.The lecture also addressed emerging research challenges and opportunities in Industry 5.0, including ethical AI, workforce augmentation, and sustainable automation. Dr. Kaluri emphasized the importance of aligning technological advancements with human values, inclusivity, and societal well-being. The session encouraged participants to explore interdisciplinary research and innovation in AI-driven human–machine systems.The program witnessed active participation from faculty members and students. An interactive question-and-answer session followed, during which the resource person addressed queries related to research directions, AI applications, and career opportunities in Industry 5.0.
