TechFest 2026
At the annual TechFest Dayton, the IEEE Dayton Section hosts booth and educational breakout sessions to engage K-12 students with microelectronics and microfabrication. We introduce young children to basic electronic principles using snap circuits, where they can learn about LEDs, batteries, switches, and resistors. We utilize USB microscopes and allow kids to explore the intricate details of real microchips, supplemented by animations explaining the microchip fabrication process. We utilize IEEE TryEngineering resources related to the art of microfabrication. Using silicon wafer replicas, we engage with kids in hands-on design activities with stickers, colors, and etching, providing an imaginative approach to chip design.
Volunteers are requested to fill in the Tech Fest 2026 sign up form available at the top of the STEM page.
