The 2026 IEEE Susquehanna Section Capstone Award Ceremony will be held at York College of Pennsylvania, Alumni Hall on Tuesday October 6, 2026. Virtual and physical attendance possible. Free food and beverage will be provided to physical attendees.
Please join us in celebrating the winners of the 2026 IEEE Susquehanna Section Capstone Award. Attendance is possible via virtual attendance on WebEx or physically at the York College of Pennsylvania. This event will honor the 2026 joint recipients of the IEEE Susquehanna Section Capstone award:
Penn State Harrisburg: "LoRa Water Quality Management System"
York College of Pennsylvania: "Software-defined Radio"
Pizza will be provided free of charge, followed by the awards ceremony, and finally a technical presentation of the winning projects by this year's recipients.
Background:
The capstone project marks the end of students’ undergraduate degree journey. It is a multifaceted, culminating assignment, typically focused on applying theoretical knowledge to solve real-world problems. The goal of a senior capstone project is to foster critical thinking and allows a student to demonstrate career readiness by developing and applying a methodology to solving a problem and then documenting that work. It is truly a culmination of a long 4+ year academic journey.
The IEEE Susquehanna Section has established an annual Engineering Capstone Award to recognize the best undergraduate capstone project within the Section’s geographic area. Each academic institution in our area nominates what they consider to be their best capstone project of that year. Each capstone project is then blindly judged by a panel within our Section. A $750 award is then presented to the winning project to share among its contributors and each contributor receives an IEEE certificate of recognition and a plaque. The winning academic institution also receives an IEEE plague.
