AESS AAU Delivers Advanced Fixed-Wing UAV Manufacturing Workshop
The AeroSpace and Electronics System Society at Amman Arab University successfully concluded an advanced hands-on workshop focused on fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) manufacturing, with wide student participation.
The AeroSpace and Electronics System Society at Amman Arab University successfully concluded an advanced hands-on workshop on fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) manufacturing, with the participation of more than 40 students from the Faculty of Aviation Sciences and related disciplines.
The workshop was supervised by Mohamad Mufid Abu Amsha, Chairman of the AeroSpace and Electronics System Society, and delivered by Mohamad Abu Amsha, Nawras Bin Tareef, and Ahmad Yu. The program aimed to enhance students’ practical engineering skills and bridge academic knowledge with real-world applications in aviation sciences.
Throughout the workshop, participants successfully manufactured six fully functional fixed-wing UAVs. The training covered the electronic phase, including wiring and soldering electronic components, installing the flight controller, transmitter, and receiver, followed by the structural assembly of the fuselage and wings, leading to full aircraft integration.
The workshop also focused on essential operational skills, such as motor testing, flight operations, and understanding the technical differences between fixed-wing aircraft and multirotor drones. In addition, students gained hands-on experience in programming and configuring the UAVs’ electronic control systems.
The workshop concluded with a closing ceremony attended by Malek Al-Anqareh, Dean of the Faculty of Aviation Sciences, and Mousa Al-Akhras, Chair of IEEE Jordan Section. Both emphasized the importance of hands-on and volunteer-based initiatives in equipping students with advanced technical competencies and preparing them for the job market, praising the high level of coordination, teamwork, and the quality of the training outcomes.
