Goals of the Event:

To introduce students to the fundamental concepts and real-world applications of the Internet of Things (IoT).
To provide a beginner-friendly platform for understanding IoT system architecture and device communication.
To offer hands-on learning experiences that promote practical implementation skills.
To encourage innovation and technical curiosity in emerging technologies.
To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and smart solution development.

Event Description:

The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society SBC CEK and IEEE Industry Applications Society jointly organized PROXIMA – The IoT Workshop as part of their technical initiative to introduce students to the dynamic world of the Internet of Things (IoT). The workshop was conducted in online mode on 3rd, 4th, and 6th September 2025, providing a beginner-friendly platform for students to explore the fundamentals and practical applications of IoT.

PROXIMA aimed to help participants understand how interconnected devices communicate and function intelligently in real-world scenarios. Through guided sessions and hands-on learning, students were introduced to core IoT concepts, basic system architecture, and practical implementation strategies. The workshop emphasized experiential learning, requiring participants to actively engage using their computers to ensure a deeper understanding of the subject.

A refundable security deposit of ₹50 was collected to encourage committed participation, and certificates were provided to all active participants. The workshop was also eligible for KTU Activity Points, adding academic value to the technical exposure gained.

Overall, PROXIMA successfully empowered students to take their first steps into the world of IoT, inspiring them to innovate, connect ideas, and build smart solutions for the future.
