Meeting Minutes

1. Attendees

  • Members Present: Sajal Mittal, Dr Jalaja S, Girish Aramanekoppa Subbarao, Vamsi Krishna Addepalli, Dr. P. Vimala, Dr Mohammad Ziaullah, Dr. Venugopal. 2. Opening Remarks

  • Welcome: Vamsi Krishna Addepalli welcomed everyone to the second ExeCom meeting. 
  • Chair’s Message: Sajal Mittal noted the heavy agenda and emphasized the critical phase the chapter is entering regarding impactful event execution.
  • ExCom Update: The Chair informed the committee that Shubra Prakash has tendered his resignation due to internal conflicts and has left the group.

3. Ratification of Previous Minutes

  • The minutes from the First ExeCom Meeting (January) were shared via WhatsApp and calendar invite for review.
  • Motion to Approve: Proposed by Vishal Shah.
  • Seconded by: Saptarshi Pani.
  • Decision: The minutes were ratified.

4. Recap of Completed Events
Vamsi Krishna Addepalli provided a summary of recent activities:

  • First ExeCom Meeting: Successfully conducted in January.
  • IEEE CEDA Industry Insight Series (Episode 1) by Ms. Rajeela: Received 120+ registrations with 59 attendees. The recording is published on the YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69qrPwK5RdE&t=2s).
  • CEDA Conclave: Unexpected event with good participation from NITTE Institute of Technology; Attendance reports are being processed.
  • AGM MoM: One report from the previous year's team is pending to finalize the AGM 2026 minutes.
  • Global Recognition: CEDA Global has agreed to publish the "Industry Inspired Lecture Series" in the CEDA Global Magazine and currently it is under progress.

5. Membership & Outreach Strategy

  • Current Membership Status: The chapter currently has 3,121 members.
  • Strategy: The immediate focus is on academic institutions where ExCom members are present.
  • Goal: Members (especially Dr. Venugopal, Dr. Jyothi, Dr. Arun, Dr. Vimala, Dr. Zakir, and others) are requested to ensure their student branch members sign up for the free CEDA membership. The target is to increase membership by ~3,400 before expanding outreach to other Student Branches.

6. Student Activities

  • Committee Formation: A "Student Activities Committee" is being formed to serve as a backbone for flagship events like SWEAT, EDA Toolsmith and other initiatives.
  • Leadership: Rakshita has been proposed as the student lead based on previous experience.
  • Action: A call for volunteers has been released. Academic members are requested to circulate this in their respective colleges.

7. Upcoming Events & Initiatives
Sajal Mittal presented the event calendar (highlighted in green for Feb/March):

  • EDA Toolsmith Program: A 3-month dedicated training program led by Jalaja S. Registrations are open.
  • RTL to Reality Workshop: Being planned by Nagaraja Rao in Udupi.
    • Discussion: The Chair emphasized that CEDA should provide technical support (speakers) alongside financial sponsorship, rather than just funding. 
  • Industry-Academia Connect: Planned at Sai Vidya Institute, led by Dr. Venugopal and Garima.
    • Tentative Date: February 28.
    • Focus: Industry trends, interview preparation, and bridging the gap.
  • Symposium on AI & CEDA: Planned for the 3rd week of March, led by Dr. Jyothi A P.
  • Career Talk: "Why choose VLSI as a career" scheduled for March 7th.
  • Hackathon: Scheduled for March 14-15 at Dayananda Sagar, led by Dr. Vimala and Lakshmanan.
  • DFT-Based Circuit Design: To be led by Apratim.
  • Global Address: Kristin, the IEEE CEDA Global President (2026), has agreed to address the Bangalore Chapter ExCom and student branch counselors.

8. Conference Roles & Technical Sponsorships
The chapter is technically sponsoring VLSI SATA and other conferences. The Chair proposed the following responsibility mapping:

9. Treasury & Finance Update

  • Clarification: Following questions at the AGM, the Chair contacted the IEEE Bangalore Section Treasurer.
  • Status: The chapter has a positive opening balance (approx. ₹4 Lakhs per Section records and got confirmation from IEEE Bangalore Section Treasurer via Email).
  • Budgeting: The OpsCom team will handle budgeting.
  • Reimbursements: All reimbursement requests must be supported by GST-compliant bills. Non-bill expenses require prior discussion with the Chair.

10. Adjournment

  • Next Meeting: Scheduled for March 5, 2026 (First Thursday) from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
  • Closing: The Chair thanked the members, and a group photo was taken. The meeting concluded at approximately 8:59 PM.
