This course is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the integration of optical microscopy and microfluidics, highlighting recent advances in lab-on-a-chip devices for biological and chemical analysis. Students will explore both traditional and advanced imaging techniques and learn how they are applied to study and manipulate cells and other biological specimens within microfluidic environments. The course will cover both bulky, high-performance imaging systems and compact solutions that can be more easily integrated into microfluidic devices. The PhD course will consist of five two-hour lectures.
