IEEE Boston Reliability and Boston SMTA joint event
"Latest Updates to the Ultra HDI Test Board Design"
and
"SMT Equipment Performance Challenges in Ultra HDI Assembly"
IEEE Boston Reliability and SMTA Boston chapter will meet in person on April 22, with two presentations:
"Latest Updates to the Ultra HDI Test Board Design" presented by Chrys Shea:
The UltraHDI Board just got an update. Last time Chrys presented the design, it had some proposed changes. Come and see which suggestions made the cut and which ones got recrafted. The presentation will walk attendees through the whats and whys of the new design and fabrication test features.
Additionally, Chrys will be offering a sneak peek at the next revision of the standard SMTA Miniaturization Test Vehicle, which will make its official debut this fall at SMTAI 2026!
and
"SMT Equipment Performance Challenges in Ultra HDI Assembly" presented by Mike Sivigny:
As Ultra HDI miniaturization pushes SMT boundaries, standard OEM "factory-ready" calibrations are no longer enough. Data reveals a staggering 90% initial specification failure rate for routine validations and immediately following OEM installation.
This presentation contrasts 3rd-party performance verification against internal machine measurements, exposing the gap between "installed" and "optimized." Attendees will learn why relying solely on OEM calibration threatens first-time-right quality and how rigorous, independent validation is the only way to protect profitability in high-precision assembly.
