SAMSAT R&D Intern Project Demonstrations
The San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology (SAMSAT) is conducting an NSF supported program for university student interns. A number of Lone Star Section members supports this program by serving as mentors for groups of students. The program is now in its second year and teams of 5 students each from St. Mary’s, Trinity, UTSA and TAMUSA are completing four exhibits that will form part of the Area21 experience. The exhibits include:
- A flight simulator using an actual T-34C cockpit with real instruments and controls
- A Lego city with 5 substations controlling power distribution demonstrating SCADA systems
- A Laser display console to allow visitors to control a laser show
- Several STEMphones, giant cell phone replicas that demonstrate communication technology
On April 25 there will be an End of Project Demonstration and Graduation for the students. In addition to the students, SAMSAT staff, IEEE mentors and faculty sponsors will discuss the program and demonstrate the exhibits.
