Troubleshooting is the most valuable skill an engineer can possess. This session was dedicated to mastering the Digital Multimeter (DMM) and understanding the behavior of active and passive components under power. The instructors introduced capacitors and transistors, explaining their roles in filtering noise and amplifying signals. The bulk of the workshop was spent on diagnostic techniques. Instead of just building working circuits, students were given intentionally broken circuits and tasked with finding the fault using their measurement tools.

Key Actionable Outcomes:

  • Equipment Mastery: Trained students on how to accurately measure DC voltage, test for continuity, and measure resistance without damaging the multimeter's internal fuse.
  • Real-world Troubleshooting: Students practiced finding "open" or "short" circuits on a breadboard. For example, testing a faulty push-button switch to determine if the internal mechanical contact was broken.
