Agenda

The rapid growth of connected systems such as the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, intelligent transport, and digital healthcare is reshaping the way we live and work. These advances, however, also bring major challenges around scalability, energy use, and long-term sustainability. Artificial intelligence and edge computing are increasingly recognized as key technologies to address these challenges by enabling data to be processed closer to where it is generated, reducing dependence on centralized cloud infrastructure, and supporting greener and more efficient services.

This full-day summer school will introduce early-career researchers to the role of AI and edge computing in building sustainable connected systems.

The program will combine expert keynote lectures, interactive technical sessions, and hands-on workshops. Participants will gain insights into lightweight AI models, edge–cloud collaboration, energy-aware system design, privacy-preserving learning and sustainable digital infrastructures.

Practical demonstrations will draw on open datasets and simple coding exercises that can be run on a standard laptop, ensuring accessibility for all participants.
