Electric Vehicle Powertrain: Challenges for EMC – HV EMC filter for compliance of Electric Vehicles
Noise currents in High-Voltage Power Trains of Electric Vehicles place significant strain on the EMC filters used to mitigate conducted and radiated emissions. Filtering targets for high level emissions must be achieved. The power dissipation caused by the resistive properties of the filter components is a key factor in determining the temperature behaviour and lifetime of the filter. Validated numerical EMC computer modelling and robustness evaluations of HV Filters of the Electric Vehicle Power Train are part of the development targets. Principle outlines of the activities to achieve postulated goals are presented. The key take away is a broad view beyond the obvious on the daily challenge of EMC in the automotive High Voltage Vehicle Electrification.

Dr. Guido Rasek, Master Expert & EMC Architect of Valeo eAutomotive Power Division Erlangen, Germany
Biography:
Guido Rasek (Member, IEEE) was born in Vienna, Austria. He received the Dipl. Ing. Degree in electrical engineering from the TH Karlsruhe (today Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1997, and the Dr. techn. degree in electrical engineering from the Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria, in 2008.
He joined EMCC in 1997 as an EMC engineer and has headed the EMC and EMP Technologies group since 1999. From 2014 to 2018, he worked as a Senior Expert for EMC in power electronics at Robert Bosch GmbH. Since 2018, he has been working at Valeo eAutomotive GmbH in Erlangen (formerly Valeo Siemens) in the field of high-voltage power electronics. He is currently employed there as a Master Expert for EMC overseeing all EMC engineering aspects in the Valeo Power Division.
Dr. techn. Rasek received the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY Best Paper Award in 2015 and is a member
of the IEEE EMC Society where he currently is a Distinguished Lecturer.
