Empowering Lives: Engineering Assistive Solutions & Medical Device Innovation
IEEE PES DIU Student Branch Chapter
The IEEE PES DIU Student Branch Chapter proudly presents “Empowering Lives: Engineering Assistive Solutions & Medical Device Innovation,” an exclusive and knowledge-driven workshop designed to explore the growing impact of engineering in healthcare, rehabilitation, assistive technology, and medical innovation. This event aims to create awareness among students about how engineering knowledge and technological advancements are being used to develop real-life solutions that improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and medical challenges in Bangladesh.
The workshop will bring together experienced professionals from CRP and BHPI who are actively working in the fields of rehabilitation engineering, assistive device development, and healthcare innovation. Participants will gain practical insights into assistive technologies, medical IoT systems, rehabilitation solutions, and engineering entrepreneurship. The session will also highlight how students from EEE, CSE, and related engineering backgrounds can contribute to the healthcare sector through innovation, research, and problem-solving approaches.
The event will feature Adv. Md. Ziaul Haque Khan, General Manager & Head of Income Generating Activities at CRP, as the Chief Guest, who will share valuable insights on assistive device-based business opportunities and entrepreneurship. The workshop speaker, Shovan Parvez, Rehabilitation Engineer at IGA, CRP, Guest Lecturer at BHPI, and Alumni of the Department of EEE at Daffodil International University, will discuss real-life rehabilitation engineering projects and assistive technology solutions currently being implemented in Bangladesh.
In addition to the technical discussions, the workshop will include an interactive Q&A session and an engaging quiz competition to encourage active participation and knowledge sharing among attendees. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with professionals, learn about current industry challenges, and explore the future possibilities of medical engineering and assistive technology in Bangladesh.
All registered participants will receive an online certificate, while winners of the quiz competition will be awarded physical certificates. The event will take place on 20 May 2026 from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the HRDI Conference Hall, Knowledge Tower (AB4), Daffodil International University. The registration fee is 100 BDT, with a special 50% discount available for IEEE PES members.
