"IEEE WIE MSIT Organizes 'The STAR Program' to Inspire Young Minds in STEM"

The event, “The STAR Program”, will be organized by IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) on 26th August 2026 at a Government Girls Senior Secondary School. The session will aim to promote interest in STEM fields among students by introducing them to scientific concepts, career opportunities, and engaging hands-on activities.

Highlights will include:

  • A Q&A session designed to encourage active student participation, with small rewards to enhance engagement and enthusiasm.
  • A creative science-based activity where students will build simple circuits and incorporate them into innovative designs, helping them develop both technical understanding and creative thinking skills.

The event will conclude with project evaluations, and the top-performing teams will receive certificates from IEEE WIE. The session is expected to inspire curiosity, confidence, and enthusiasm toward STEM learning among the participants.

Agenda

The event will commence with a welcoming address by the IEEE WIE MSIT team along with the school faculty, creating an enthusiastic and interactive atmosphere for the participants. The session will begin with an introduction to the Science Brainer Activity and its objective of encouraging students to develop interest and confidence in STEM-related fields. Students will be introduced to the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in everyday life, along with the various career opportunities associated with these fields.

Following the introduction, an interactive quiz and discussion session will be conducted to encourage active student participation. Students will engage by answering science-based questions, sharing ideas, and participating in short problem-solving activities. Small rewards such as chocolates and stationery items will be distributed to participants in order to make the session more engaging and enjoyable while also boosting their confidence.

The event will then move forward with a simple hands-on science activity where students will work in teams to create basic scientific models and solve small logical challenges related to STEM concepts. The activity will focus on encouraging teamwork, observation skills, creativity, and critical thinking in a fun and interactive manner. Through this exercise, students will gain practical exposure to scientific learning beyond textbooks.

As the session progresses, the students will present their models and ideas before the judges. The projects and activities will be evaluated on the basis of creativity, clarity of concept, teamwork, presentation, and innovation. The best-performing teams will be recognized and awarded certificates by IEEE WIE for their active participation and excellent performance.

Towards the end of the event, a feedback session will be organized where students and teachers will share their experiences and thoughts regarding the program. The responses are expected to reflect enthusiasm and increased interest among students towards STEM education and related opportunities.

Overall, the Science Brainer Activity will aim to create an inspiring and inclusive learning environment that promotes curiosity, creativity, and active participation in STEM fields. The event is expected to motivate students to explore science and technology with greater interest and confidence.
