This talk by Prof. Javier Ortega-Garcia will focus on the main scientific lines developed at BiometricsAI Lab (ex - BiDALab) at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, with a strong emphasis on biometric technologies, trustworthy artificial intelligence, and human-centered security systems. The presented work covers behavioral and visual biometrics, including online handwriting, keystroke dynamics, touchscreen interaction, face recognition, presentation attack detection, and synthetic biometric data generation using deep learning techniques. Special attention will be devoted to mobile behavioral biometrics and continuous authentication, leveraging multimodal data captured from smartphones and wearable devices for secure and transparent digital identity verification. The presentation will also address recent advances in biometric security, deepfake and fraud detection, and privacy-aware AI systems, together with emerging applications in digital health, personalized nutrition, and neurodegenerative disease monitoring through multimodal behavioral analysis. These research lines combine fundamental research, large-scale dataset development, international scientific collaboration, and successful technology transfer to industry, contributing to the advancement of robust, explainable, and socially responsible biometric intelligence systems.

Biography:

Javier Ortega-Garcia is Full Professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and founder of the Biometrics and Data Pattern Analytics (BiDA) Lab, recently re-named as BiometricsAI Lab, one of the leading European research groups in biometrics and trustworthy AI. He is IEEE Fellow and IAPR Fellow for contributions to biometric recognition, behavioral signal processing, and secure artificial intelligence systems. His research track includes more than 400 scientific publications, numerous international projects and technology transfer activities, with a strong impact on biometric security, human-centered AI, and digital identity technologies.
