The Rise of the Intelligent Swarm: Shaping the Future of Autonomous Systems
Unmanned systems and robotics have evolved from specialized remotely-controlled
machines into autonomous intelligent systems which finds many applications both in civilian
and defence domains.
The intelligent applications and autonomy is mainly driven by breakthroughs in "physical AI"
and edge-computed AI, which refers to the integration of advanced artificial intelligence
algorithms directly into physical bodies—such as robots, autonomous vehicles, smart
machinery, and drones—allowing them to perceive, reason, and interact with the real world
in real time.
Looking ahead, the future of this domain lies in the mastery of swarm intelligence, where
decentralized networks of autonomous systems co-optimize their workflows via local
interaction protocols and resilient, cryptographically secure edge-consensus models that
ensure continuous execution even in fully communications-denied environments.
This talk will try to cover various aspects including challenges and related technologies
covering how we are moving from isolated, rigid machines to collective, self-organizing
collective behaviour.
