The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering, in association with the IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) Bangalore Chapter and the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), SECAB Institute of Engineering and Technology, Vijayapura, jointly organized an Expert Talk on "MEP & HVAC Systems and Multiple Career Opportunities in Gulf Countries" on 12th July 2026 (Sunday) at 10:00 AM in the CSE Seminar Hall.

The keynote session was delivered by Mr. Mohammad Zakir, an experienced Electrical Engineer based in Dubai, holding the FMP (Facility Management Professional) certification from IFMA (USA). Drawing upon his extensive professional experience in the Gulf region, the speaker provided valuable insights into the design, execution, operation, and maintenance of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, with special emphasis on Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) technologies used in commercial, industrial, and residential infrastructure.

During the session, Mr. Zakir explained the fundamentals of HVAC systems, including cooling load calculations, duct design, ventilation standards, chilled water systems, fire protection integration, Building Management Systems (BMS), and energy-efficient building practices. He highlighted the importance of sustainable engineering solutions and discussed the latest technologies being adopted in smart buildings and modern infrastructure projects.

A significant part of the talk focused on career opportunities in Gulf countries, particularly in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait. The speaker discussed the skills required by employers, industry certifications, software proficiency (such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, and Primavera), interview preparation, salary prospects, and career growth in the MEP and facility management sectors. He also shared practical guidance on obtaining employment in Gulf countries, workplace expectations, and professional development strategies.

The interactive session enabled students and faculty members to clarify their doubts regarding overseas employment, higher studies, professional certifications, and industry requirements. The expert encouraged students to strengthen their technical knowledge, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities to enhance their global employability.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of the Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering departments. The program successfully bridged the gap between academic learning and industrial practices, providing participants with valuable exposure to emerging career opportunities in the global engineering sector.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to Mr. Mohammad Zakir for sharing his expertise and motivating students towards building successful careers in the MEP and HVAC industry. The organizers also thanked the management of SECAB Institute of Engineering and Technology, the IEEE CEDA Bangalore Chapter, the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), faculty coordinators, and all participants for making the event a grand success.
