Title: Empowering Cooperative Autonomous Driving with Mobile Edge Intelligence

Date: 22 July 2026 (Wed) 10am

Venue: EEE Executive Seminar Rm (S2.2-B2-53) NTU

Abstract:

Autonomous driving has achieved remarkable progress in recent years, yet significant challenges remain in areas such as perception, handling long-tail corner cases, and dynamic interaction with other road users. Mobile Edge Intelligence (MEI), which brings AI processing closer to vehicles via edge computing infrastructure, emerges as a critical enabler for overcoming these constraints. This presentation will provide an overview of cooperative autonomous driving technology and how MEI can address the above limitations. It will highlight recent research developments, practical use cases and key challenges of MEI for CAV. Recent works on semantic vehicular computing and large language model based driving assistance will be presented, which address the communication and generalization issues for safe and cooperative driving in complex and mixed-traffic environments.
