                              Day1:Heart Beat Introduction

Event Description :

Discovery Through Play is an interactive educational workshop designed to introduce children to the fascinating connection between the human body and engineering through hands-on activities and games. The event encourages curiosity, teamwork, and scientific thinking by allowing participants to explore how their bodies function during physical activity and how different body systems work together. Through engaging experiments, collaborative challenges, and guided discussions, children develop observation, critical thinking, and communication skills while having fun in a safe and supportive learning environment.

Activity Description :

The activities are designed to provide children with a practical understanding of body systems through play-based learning. Participants begin by measuring their resting heart rate using heart rate monitors before engaging in physical exercises such as jumping, running, and dancing to observe how their heart rate changes. They then participate in a System Thinking Game, where they discover how organs such as the heart, lungs, muscles, and brain work together like components of an engineering system. The session concludes with a guided reflection, during which children answer questions that encourage them to recall, explain, and reflect on the concepts they learned throughout the day, reinforcing their understanding and building confidence in expressing their ideas.

Dhouha Ichaoui of Chair of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC) Student Branch Chapter at the Faculty of Sciences of Sfax (FSS)

Topic:

Heart Beat Introdution

Dhouha Ichaoui introduces children to the fascinating world of the human heart through fun, interactive, and age-appropriate activities. She explains the basics of the heartbeat, helping children understand how the heart works, why it beats faster during physical activity, and why it is essential for keeping the body healthy. Throughout the session, she engages the children with simple questions, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities that encourage curiosity, observation, and critical thinking. Her engaging teaching approach creates a positive learning environment where children actively participate and discover scientific concepts through play.
