Abstract
This talk will introduce AI tools and techniques that can be used to assist in
system design, from concept to implementation. Specifically, this
presentation will show how AI can be used to augment and accelerate
design within a systems engineering framework, illustrated using an
example system.

Biography:
Jim Cale is an Associate Professor at Colorado State University (CSU) in
the Systems Engineering Department, with joint appointment in the
Electrical & Computer Engineering Department. Since joining CSU in 2017, he has performed research and taught courses in energy, power, and system design. He currently serves as Chair of the IEEE High Plains
Section and faculty advisor for the Colorado Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi.
He has also served in various industry roles including Chief Technology
Officer at Moser Energy Systems, principal engineer and group manager at the National Laboratory of the Rockies, and senior roles at Advanced
Energy Industries and Orbital ATK. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a
member of Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi, and Eta Kappa Nu.
