Five-Day Faculty Enablement Program – IMPACT 26
As part of the Five-Day Faculty Enablement Program – IMPACT 26 (Innovative Methods in Pedagogy, Assessment, Competency and Teaching), the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of P.A. College of Engineering organized an insightful technical session on "OBE Essentials for Faculty" on 22nd June 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Multi-Purpose Hall. The session was delivered by Mr. Vittal Bhat M., Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, who served as the resource person for the inaugural day of the program. The objective of the session was to familiarize faculty members with the fundamental concepts and implementation strategies of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), which forms the cornerstone of contemporary engineering education. The resource person provided a comprehensive overview of OBE principles, emphasizing the formulation of Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), Program Outcomes (POs), Course Outcomes (COs), and their effective mapping to ensure measurable student learning. The session also highlighted the importance of constructive alignment between curriculum design, teaching methodologies, learning activities, and assessment practices to achieve desired educational outcomes. Participants were introduced to best practices in preparing course plans, designing competency-based assessments, evaluating attainment levels, and utilizing continuous improvement mechanisms to enhance academic quality. Real-life examples and practical demonstrations enabled faculty members to understand the effective implementation of OBE within their respective departments and encouraged them to adopt learner-centric and outcome-oriented teaching practices. The interactive discussions and question-and-answer session provided an excellent opportunity for participants to clarify their understanding of accreditation requirements and the role of faculty in maintaining academic standards. Faculty members actively engaged in the deliberations, sharing their experiences and exploring innovative approaches to improve curriculum delivery and assessment. Overall, the session served as a strong foundation for the subsequent activities of IMPACT 26, equipping faculty members with essential knowledge and practical skills to implement Outcome-Based Education effectively, thereby strengthening the institution's commitment to quality assurance, academic excellence, and continuous improvement in engineering education.
