Abstract: AI is changing more than how quickly work gets done. It is changing who does the work, how tasks are delegated, and how teams should be organized.

As AI becomes capable of generating designs, code, analysis, documentation, and ideas in minutes, managers face a new challenge: deciding what to delegate to AI, what to keep with people, and where human judgment remains essential.

In this talk, Sean Murphy explores how engineering and design managers can rethink delegation and the design of teamwork in an AI-enabled organization. Rather than simply inserting AI into existing workflows, managers need to reconsider roles, responsibilities, review processes, and collaboration.

The talk will examine practical ways to divide work between people and AI, keep humans accountable for important decisions, and redesign workflows as AI capabilities continue to evolve.

Attendees will leave with three practical strategies for navigating uncertainty, experimenting safely with AI, and building teams that combine the speed of AI with human experience, creativity, and judgment.

Sean Murphy of SKMurphy, Inc.

Biography:

Sean Murphy has taken an entrepreneurial approach to life since he could drive. His firm, SKMurphy, Inc., helps early-stage startups and consultants market and sell their products and services. His clients offer products for electronic design, artificial intelligence, medical and life sciences equipment, and workflow support tools for professional services, including medical and legal applications.

Prior to founding SKMurphy, Inc. in 2003, Sean has worked in a variety of roles for more than two decades: software engineer, engineering manager, project manager, business development, product marketing, and customer support. Companies he has worked directly for include Cisco Systems, 3Com, AMD, MMC Networks, and VLSI Technology. He has a BS in Mathematical Sciences and an MS in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford.
