IEEE PELS Toronto Chapter Seminars: Advanced Control and Optimization for Intelligent and Sustainable Mobility Systems
Abstract:
The rapid development of vehicle electrification, autonomous driving, and intelligent transportation systems is creating new opportunities for safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mobility. This seminar presents recent research conducted in our laboratory on advanced control and optimization methods for intelligent mobility systems. The talk will introduce several research topics spanning vehicle control, autonomous driving, and mobility optimization. These include energy-efficient control of electrified vehicles, autonomous driving and path-following control, and optimization of smart mobility services. Particular attention will be given to the integration of model-based control, optimization, and data-driven approaches, including model predictive control, Lyapunov-based control. Through simulation and experimental studies involving electric vehicles, autonomous mobile robots, and mobility systems, the seminar will discuss how these approaches can improve energy efficiency, safety, mobility, and control performance.
Bio:
Wenjing Cao is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan, and is currently a visiting researcher at the University of Torontao. Her research focuses on control engineering and its applications to intelligent and sustainable mobility systems, including autonomous driving, vehicle dynamics and control, energy management of electrified vehicles, mobile robotics, and smart mobility services. Her work integrates advanced control, optimization, and data-driven approaches to improve the safety, energy efficiency, and performance of future transportation systems.
