From oil spill response to HNS behavior and dispersion research
Biography:
CEDRE is France’s national centre of expertise for accidental pollution affecting marine and freshwater environments. Created in 1978 in the aftermath of the Amoco Cadiz oil spill, CEDRE has been supporting authorities and industry in preparing for, responding to, and managing pollution incidents. It runs multidisciplinary teams, combining scientific research, operational expertise, and emergency response to cover a wide range of pollutants and environmental challenges, including oil, chemicals, and aquatic litter. This presentation provides an overview of CEDRE’s expertise and research activities, with a particular focus on oil spill response, HNS behavior and dispersion, slick tracking using drifting buoys, gas cloud monitoring, and model validation
