VOLTA 2027 (Visionary Olympiad for Literacy in Technology and Application) is a pre-university STEM competition and technology literacy program organized by IEEE Student Branch Udayana University (STB17451) in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Udayana, Bali, Indonesia.

The program introduces high school students (SMA/SMK) across Bali to hands-on communications engineering and IoT technology through three parallel competition tracks:

- Category A — Smart Energy Monitor: Participants build a real-time
energy monitoring system using microcontrollers and current/power
  sensors with wireless notification capability.

- Category B — Smart Sensing Network (IoT): Participants design and
deploy a multi-sensor IoT system transmitting live data to a cloud
  dashboard via WiFi.

- Category C — Long-Range Communicator (LoRa): Participants build a
two-node wireless communication system using LoRa (SX1278, 433 MHz)
capable of transmitting sensor data over a minimum distance of 50
  meters without internet.

Prior to VOLTA Day, all 30 registered teams (from 16 partner schools) receive structured online mentoring over 4–6 weeks, guided by Electrical
Engineering faculty and IEEE SB Udayana student volunteers. A one-day teacher workshop is also conducted to equip school mentors with foundational knowledge in IoT and wireless communication technologies.

VOLTA 2027 contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and serves as a flagship
pre-university outreach activity of IEEE Student Branch Udayana University in IEEE Indonesia Section and Region 10.

Target participants: 90 students and 30 teacher-mentors from 16 SMA/SMK schools across Bali.
