IEEE Day Social & Community Event + Humanitarian Technologies
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
You are warmly invited to join us for an IEEE Day celebration in the Twin Cities—an opportunity to connect, learn more about IEEE, other Engineering Societies, and explore how we can build a stronger local engineering and technology community together.
The celebration will take place on Oct 6, 2026, at Punch Bowl Social (southwest corner of I394 and Hwy100), and will bring together IEEE members and other Engineering societies' members interested in vitalizing the Engineering community in the Twin Cities.
The event will include:
- Social networking and informal discussion——with free food and drinks provided— because building a strong community starts with getting to know one another and sharing food!
- Meet-and-connect opportunities with members and representatives from different engineering groups in the Twin Cities.
Some topics we can chat about are:
- Community needs brainstorming: What are the most important challenges, unmet needs, and unwanted technology intrusions, in the Twin Cities that engineers, technologists, researchers, students, and community partners could help address?
- Stakeholder mapping and collaboration: Identifying organizations, nonprofits, academic groups, industry partners, government agencies, educators, and community organizations that may be interested in working together.
- Brainstorming for the formation of an IEEE SIGHT (Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology) group in the Twin Cities, including ideas for projects and collaborations that can leverage engineering and technology to address local and global challenges.
This gathering is intended to be an open and collaborative space. You do not need to be an IEEE member to attend. Whether you are already active in an Engineering Society, curious about getting involved, interested in humanitarian technology and ethical management of technology, or simply looking for ways to contribute to the Twin Cities community through engineering and societal development, we would love to have you join us.
Together, we hope to identify opportunities where Engineering Societies can serve as connectors—bringing people, ideas, expertise, technology, and critique, together to create meaningful impact in our community.
We look forward to celebrating IEEE Day with you and, more importantly, beginning a conversation about what we can build together in the Twin Cities.
Please join us for an evening of connection, fun, food, ideas, and collaboration!

Non-IEEE Friends, please use the "Register as Guest" option on the event page to register. See image below:
NOTE: You will have to first click on the IEEE Privacy Policy link so that policy page comes up, then check the box for accepting the policy, before the "Register as Guest" button will work correctly. Just checking the box and clicking on the Register button may result in an error page. (Corporate stuff.)
Note: IEEE has an engineering community network called Collabratec that you can join. You do NOT have to be an IEEE member to join this network; you can create a free account on it. This network holds several sub-communities. One of those relates to Ethics in Engineering. You can join the Ethics in Engineering group at the link below:
