The Faculty of Arts and Culture, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL), has organized a technical workshop titled “Application of Advanced Geospatial Technologies in Disaster Risk Reduction” as part of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) Young Professionals (YP) Ambassador Program 2026. The workshop will be led by  Dr. Samitha Daranagama, Senior Lecturer, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

This technical seminar will explore the application of advanced geospatial technologies, particularly Remote Sensing and GeoAI, in disaster risk reduction. The programme will introduce participants to the use of Earth observation data, geospatial analysis, and artificial intelligence for hazard assessment, mapping, and disaster risk management. The event will also provide practical insights into modern geospatial workflows and their potential applications in addressing regional disaster-related challenges.
