You are warmly welcome to attend the IEEE workshop “Frontiers in Converter-Dominated Power Systems: Stability, Digital Twins and Grid-Forming Control,” organized by the IEEE PES/PELS Sweden Chapter on 19 October 2026, from 15:00 to 17:00 at KTH and Zoom.

The workshop brings together three distinguished researchers to discuss emerging methods and challenges in converter-dominated power systems.

Prof. Marta Molinas, IEEE Fellow and Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway, will present “Rethinking Impedance-Based Stability Analysis of Power Electronics Systems Through Electrical Symmetry.” The talk introduces electrical symmetry as a complementary perspective for interpreting converter–grid interactions and assessing stability robustness.

Prof. Fei Gao, IEEE Fellow and Professor at the University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard (UTBM), France, and Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, will present “Digital Twins for Modern Power Electronics.” The talk will cover high-fidelity real-time modelling, enabling technologies, and applications of digital twins in modern power electronic and energy systems.

Prof. Xiao-Ping Zhang, IEEE Fellow and Professor of Electrical Power Systems at the University of Birmingham, UK, will deliver the IEEE PES Distinguished Lecture “Phase Jump of Grid Forming Control: Is It Too Big or Too Small?” The talk will address the transient stability of grid-forming converters under phase jumps and discuss implications for existing grid-code requirements.

The workshop is intended for researchers, engineers, students, and industry professionals interested in power electronics, converter-dominated grids, stability, digital twins, and grid-forming technologies. The event will conclude with a joint discussion and Q&A.

The detailed agenda, abstracts, and speaker biographies are attached.
