Microwave Wireless Power Transfer Theory Instrumentation and Hands-on Demo | IEEE Day 2026
In celebration of IEEE Day 2026 under the theme “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow”, the IEEE MTT-S Student Branch Chapter at Sichuan University (SBC41679601) will host a technical hands-on event focused on Microwave Wireless Power Transfer (MWPT).
MWPT converts microwave energy into usable electrical power without physical cables, enabling sustainable applications such as wireless sensor networks, implantable medical devices, and space solar power. This event bridges theoretical knowledge with practical microwave engineering practice.
The session begins with an introduction to MWPT fundamental principles, followed by professional microwave instrumentation operation training. Participants will then observe a live MWPT demonstration and conduct group hands-on experiments to build and test rectenna modules. The event concludes with a group photo featuring the IEEE Day 2026 banner.
All participants will learn RF measurement skills, rectenna basics, and explore how microwave technology contributes to a sustainable future. IEEE members and non-members are all welcome. Free admission.
On-site promotion of IEEE MTT-S 75th anniversary membership offer (promo code MTTS75YEARS) will be provided for eligible participants.

Fundamentals of Microwave Wireless Power Transfer
This session will introduce the fundamental principles of Microwave Wireless Power Transfer (MWPT), covering the theoretical foundations of far-field wireless power transmission, rectenna design considerations, and key RF-to-DC conversion mechanisms. The talk will also highlight practical challenges and emerging applications—from wireless sensor networks and implantable medical devices to space solar power—illustrating how microwave engineering contributes to a sustainable, cable-free energy future.
