IoT data and machine learning in the automotive industry
Nowadays, the word ‘data’ is commonly used one. A common definition, “data is the oil, of the 21st century- the raw material that our economies, societies and democracies are increasingly being built on”. It is mind blowing the number and size of the data getting created every day. The latest advances in technology mainly smartphones and IoT connected devices are the main contributors in the data creation. We started by defining data as the raw material. In fact, it is. Data as it gets generated and stored doesn’t provide much value as transforming and analyzing these data. Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence that uses statistics to build algorithms/model from these massive amounts of data. You can look at it as data is the input, machine learning is the engine, and the insightful values that drive important decisions is the output of this process. Every industry is utilizing data to build their decisions, strategies, production plans, …etc. In this talk, we will go over how Oshkosh Corp as being the world leading manufacturer of specialty vehicles started the journey of connecting its vehicles and how the real-time and analyzed data through machine learning helping our customer to better manage their fleet, utilization, and vehicles maintenance.
